What is the difference between bridges and dentures?
A bridge is a restoration that is permanently cemented. A bridge fills in one or more missing teeth. The bridge is anchored to teeth adjacent to the missing space. This requires placing a crown (also known as a cap) on the tooth in front of the space, and the tooth behind the space. The crowns are connected with a fake tooth in-between.
Dentures or partial dentures are a removable option. This means that the replacement teeth can be taken out. Complete dentures replace all the teeth on the lower or upper arch. Partial dentures replace some teeth. Partial dentures are anchored by clasps to remaining natural teeth to stay stable while speaking and eating.
