CEREC Crowns in Edina, MN

Because you’re busy with work, school, taking care of your family, or other responsibilities, making time to visit your dentist may feel impossible. While it can be difficult to schedule dental appointments, finding time for multiple visits is even trickier.

In the past, if you needed a dental crown, it would take at least two separate trips to the dentist. Fortunately, with CEREC technology, dental crowns can be created and placed in one visit, making it more convenient than ever before.

So, what can you expect from a CEREC same-day crown procedure?

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a natural-looking restoration that covers your entire tooth. If your tooth is damaged or decayed, we can strengthen and protect it with a dental crown. CEREC crowns are beautiful and blend seamlessly with your smile, so no one knows you’ve been to the dentist.

The CEREC Procedure: What to Expect

To save your natural tooth and restore your smile’s function and aesthetic beauty, we use CEREC same-day crowns in our dental office. Here’s what you can expect from the procedure:

  • Tooth preparation — The first step is to remove a small amount of tooth enamel to make room for your new crown. We will numb your mouth so you won’t feel any discomfort.
  • Scans — Then, we’ll take scans of your teeth; instead of messy impressions, we can comfortably capture precise images of your entire mouth. These scans are sent to our computer.
  • Digital models — Next, our computer will take the digital scans and turn them into 3-D models of your teeth. These models help us create your treatment plan.
  • Crown model — Once we are happy with the computer rendering, we instruct the computer to create a model of your dental crown.
  • Crown creation — With the push of a button, we send your virtual crown to our in-office milling machine. We place a ceramic block into the machine, which carves your dental crown to the precise specifications.
  • Placement — The final step involves placing your new dental crown on your tooth and ensuring the proper fit.
